Hi Jen and Mick, I like your house. We have the same garage doors as you and have merbau doors - what stain did you use on the door & what timber is the door made of. Hope you are enjoying your new home. Thanks Matt
Hi Matt, thank you. The stain we used for the door was Cabots Decking Stain (semi-transparent, oil rich) in Jarrah. Was a bit dubious of them using 'decking' stain, but the finish was good in the end. I'm not sure exactly what wood the door is, though it is from Hume Doors, model XS24, so they might be able to tell you if you give them a call. The colour matched very nicely with the garage door, which was a relief. And yes, we are enjoying our home, though still a few things to finish off. Just had our pool installed yesterday, so really must update the blog Good luck Jen
Jen, thanks for your reply. It was suggested that we use Teak as the Jarrah would have been too red for the Merbau which already has orangey brown in it. Tried Hyames Teak interior stain on a sample piece yesterday arvo and it matches pretty well. I can get away with an interior stain as it is covered with a portico style entry and am putting marine grade polyurethane. Found out the Hume doors are made from Meranti timber. Once again thanks for your help and I hope it is warm enough for you to use the pool straight away. Cheers, Matt
